ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATED COMPOSER

JOHN DEBNEY

SCORES "DREAMER"

Collaborates with master violinist Joshua Bell

Score album available this fall from Sony Classical

(LOS ANGELES, CA) Back in the U.S. after launching the successful and much-celebrated "Passion Symphony" concert in Rome, Italy, prolific composer John Debney is scoring "Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story" for director John Gatins. Debney will collaborate with superstar violinist Joshua Bell, whose album "Romance of the Violin" was Billboard's #1 Classical Album of 2004, for the score. Starring Kurt Russell and Dakota Fanning, the film is the story of a trainer and his daughter who nurse an injured horse back to health, with an eye to racing him in the Breeder's Cup. The DreamWorks feature, based on the story of Mariah's Storm, is scheduled for release October 21, with the score album available in the fall on Sony Classical.

Having lost his father at an early age, the film's family theme struck a chord within the composer. "Rarely does a film speak so personally to me," Debney says, "The story of this family and their healing through the magical horse Sonador resonated deep within me. It seemed as though I could write no wrong notes." In addition to being inspired by the film's superb direction, acting and editing, Debney was thrilled to have Bell's talents gracing his score. "Joshua is an artist of unparalleled excellence," he says, "He simply amazed me playing the most delicate as well as the more challenging passages with complete control and elegance."

One of Hollywood's most in-demand composers, his work for "Dreamer" comes on the heels of Debney's latest collaboration with Robert Rodriguez on "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3-D." Their last effort, "Sin City," grossed $70 million in its first four weeks of release, garnering kudos from critics and fans alike.

In addition to his film work, which this year has also will include "Chicken Little," "Duma," "The Barnyard," "Lucky 13" and "Zathura," Debney has just launched the multi-media "Passion Symphony," a live work expanding upon his Oscar nominated music from "The Passion of the Christ," which premiered in Rome in July under Debney's direction.

John Debney has proven his versatility as a composer scoring popular comedies such as "Liar Liar," and "Bruce Almighty;" action films including previous collaborations with Rodriguez on the "Spy Kids" movies. Only in his 40s, Debney is the youngest recipient ever to have his body of work honored so early in his career with ASCAP's Henry Mancini Award.
