DANNY
PELFREY SCORES AMERICAN DREAMS NBC’S
HIGHLY ANTICIPATED MUSICALLY DRIVEN FALL SERIES Composer is also producing and arranging the ‘60s songs performed by contemporary artists
HOLLYWOOD,
CA - Film and Television composer Danny Pelfrey, who
received critical acclaim and Emmy nominations for his
music in shows including "Felicity,"
"Spin City" and "That’s Life" is
now composing music for the NBC drama, "American
Dreams." From the thrill of dancing to the new
Ronettes song to the life-changing assassination of a
beloved President, American Dreams follows one family's
journey through the joys and pains of America in the
'60s and early '70s. At the epicenter of these
earth-shattering times is Meg Pryor, a style-conscious
15-year-old whose life revolves around the popular dance
show, American Bandstand. While Meg's younger brother
and sister are concerned with simple pursuits, her older
brother, Will, is fighting to follow his dreams instead
of his father's. And unbeknownst to the kids, their
parents are struggling to define their own evolving
relationship as partners, parents and people. Meanwhile,
the world swirls around them - a vibrant combination of
rock and roll, equal rights and soon, war.
The NBC series is executive-produced by Dick
Clark .
Pelfrey is also wearing the hat of
producer/arranger. From a rendition of Amazing Grace
performed by lead singer Nicky Harris (Madonna's Backup)
with a gospel choir… to Backstreet Boys' Nick
Carter recreating Jay of Jay and The Americans' hit
"Come A Little Bit Closer" and “She
Cried” (airing this Sunday, Nov 3, recorded at Cello
Studios Sept. 15)… to Usher recording as Marvin
Gaye (airing Nov. 10), Pelfrey's expertise transcends
musical genre.
"Most composers have to work with existing
songs which they feel may interfere with the score.
I have the privilege of working in both arenas
and looking at the entire musical contribution,"
explains Pelfrey.
Danny
Pelfrey has built a strong fan-base among the female
audiences of his shows. He is also currently scoring,
Lifetime’s “Strong Medicine.”
Pelfrey has the ability to score poignant,
comical as well as dramatic moments of a scene.
One of his underscore themes for Felicity,
"Felicity and Ben's Theme" has come to be
known to fans as "that piano song."
It quickly became the most sought-after music by
viewers of the WB series after it played during a
several pivotal moments shared between Felicity (Keri
Russell) and Ben (Scott Speedman).
The highly requested instrumental piece debuted
on the series second season and continued through the
series.
Kristi Dunn, site creator of felicitytunes.com,
explained, "Within minutes of an episode ending
which featured Danny's piano piece, email messages would
start flooding in and the number of visitors to the site
tripled."
Emmy-nominated for his score to another Felicity
episode, "Help for the Lovelorn" (the Twilight
Zone influenced episode), Pelfrey also received a best
score Golden Reel nomination last season for an episode
of CBS' “That's Life.” He won the 2001 Video
Premiere Award in the category of BEST SONG for
"Better Than I" and a nomination for his score
to DreamWorks’ "Joseph-King of Dreams." He
also scored and wrote the main title theme for ABC’s
Spin City. Pelfrey has created music for many
interactive games including "Game of the Year"
nominee Activision’s Star Trek Elite Force.
Pelfrey was part of the Emmy winning teams for
Santa Barbara and Another World.
He also wrote music for several mini-series and
prime-time shows such as “Friends,” “Providence”
and “Once and Again.” As a musician, Pelfrey's

television shows, such as David Letterman & The
Tonight Show. He has recorded with music legends
including Aretha Franklin, Carole King and Eric Clapton. Visit http://www.dannypelfrey.com
